A guided group class moving through a portion of the standing and seated postures in the Primary Series of Ashtanga Yoga connecting breath and movement to steady the mind while building internal heat, strength and flexibility. We first practice stability and ease in the body and mind and then in our lives. These practices are like tools in your toolbox able to be applied to daily life. In a mysore class folks practice the Ashtanga sequence at their own pace with individualized, one on one instruction and support from the teacher while also receiving the benefit of the shared energy of a group. Because of the individualized nature of the teachings, this is appropriate for beginners as well as regular practitioners.This empowering style of practice fosters independence and allows space for deeper exploration and insight into the self and your practice. This is not a group class led by a teacher all together but more like a private class with the energy of others. The 2hr time frame of class allows for folks to come in anytime within the time frame allowing time for practice and ending before end of class time. This sequence uses breath, posture and gaze to purify the nervous system, detoxify the body and steady the mind while also building internal heat, strength and flexibility. Through consistent practice one can cultivate mental focus, vitality and a deeper sense of self awareness. This is not a beginners class and is best suited for those familiar with the Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series or those with a regular yoga practice. If you are new to Yoga and interested in beginning a practice, I offer private one-on-one individualized classes. In my experience, It is challenging to meet the specific needs of a new student in the appropriate way during a guided group class and because of this I have chose to focus on private sessions for beginners. It is an invaluable way to learn as classes are tailored to the individual allowing the space to learn and explore the foundations of the practice in a way that is appropriate for you. These classes are not limited to the practice of postures but can also include or be focused on meditation, breathing and relaxation practices, etc. Private classes are also offered for those looking for individualized support in their existing practice as well.
