Ashtanga Yoga as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India is a classical, dynamic practice synchronizing breath and movement through a progressive series of postures. This therapeutic sequence uses the three focal points of breath, posture and gaze to purify the nervous system, detoxify and strengthen the body and steady the mind. Through consistent practice one can cultivate mental focus, vitality and a deeper sense of self awareness. The practice is adapted to the individual as they are taught at their own level with options for all bodies and abilities.
I came to Ashtanga Yoga at a time of great personal change after having practiced yoga periodically since 2003. This practice has allowed me to unclog the body and mind, gain awareness of habits and patterns and live with more clarity and the ability to find more joy. I have been lucky enough to spend time with some of the most knowledgeable teachers in this tradition who have made this a lifelong practice and have led not only through words but by example. Deep respect and gratitude to them for their teachings on not only asana, but the study of the eight limbs of Yoga, Ayurveda, chanting and pranayama. I am continually learning through home practice and time spent with my teacher. The continuation of knowledge that has been passed down to me has been applied into my own practice, allowing me to share from direct experience-the only place I can speak from with surety and depth. I am here to share what I have learned in a fun, supportive space and to offer guidance to folks as they experience their own Yoga.
I live in Colchester with my family and am also a licensed massage therapist at Professional Therapeutic Massage (P.T.M)
